Tips for Applying for Scholarships:

Start Now! It does not matter what grade you are in.....be on the search. While most scholarships are geared towards Seniors in high school, there are scholarships available for all age ranges.

Know your STATS! When you apply for scholarships you will need to know your GPA, family income, ACT scores or other test scores and more.

Don't Get Discouraged! Applying for scholarships is like searching for a needle in a haystack. If you apply for one and don't get it, keep going! Be persistent.

Local College Diversity Scholarships

Bellarmine Louisville Century Scholars (LCS) Scholarship Program: Students selected for the LCS program will receive a scholarship that covers the full cost of tuition, books, fees and on-campus room and board after federal, state and institutional aid is applied. They will also be expected to maintain certain requirements while enrolled at Bellarmine to maintain program eligibility.

Bellarmine Hope Kentucky Scholars Program covers 100% of tuition and fees – including textbooks – for traditional first-year students in Kentucky. The program’s funding is applied to any remaining costs for a student after all other institutional, state, and federal funds (e.g., Pell, KEES, CAP, KTG, FSEOG) have been applied (loans and work-study are not included in the calculation). As long as the student is admitted to Bellarmine and stays enrolled full time, files the FAFSA each year by December 1 and remains eligible for federal Pell grants, the funding is renewable for eight semesters.

University of Kentucky: This scholarship promotes the University of Kentucky’s Strategic Vision of Diversity and Inclusion. In order to obtain the educational benefits of a diverse student body, the University will aggressively admit and retain students from all segments of society including students of different races, ethnicities, socioeconomic status, sexes, sexual orientation, gender identities, disability status, religious traditions, political beliefs, and geographic backgrounds. Factors which are considered in the holistic evaluation of William C. Parker Scholarship applicants include contribution to diversity, test scores, grades, essay, leadership experience, extracurricular activities, awards and recognition, and community service. Awards will be based on the applicant’s ranking within the competitive pool, with values varying based on meritorious criteria. Students may receive only one award through the William C. Parker Scholarship Program. Incoming freshmen applicants for this competitive scholarship program must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.50.

University of Louisville: The Woodford R. Porter Scholarship is awarded to Black/African American students who are residents of Kentucky or Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Perry, Scott, and Washington counties in Indiana. We consider admitted students who have at least a 3.0 weighted grade point average, and demonstrate strong leadership and extracurricular involvement.

University of Louisville: The Martin Luther King Scholars participate in an engaging leadership development program while enrolled at the University of Louisville. This mentored scholar program includes a scholarship, which is awarded annually to ten Black/African American or Latinx high school graduates from Kentucky or Southern Indiana. MLK Scholars participate in a program designed to develop critical thinking skills, engage in self exploration, and establish an appreciation for civic engagement. MLK Scholars live in an Honors Service Living Learning community throughout their first year, enroll in courses focused on social justice and peace studies, engage in experiential learning through community service initiatives, and, during the second year, participate in a civil rights immersion travel experience. The program includes full in-state tuition plus an $8,000 stipend to cover other university expenses. A minimum high school GPA of 3.5 is required to apply. ACT/SAT scores are not considered.
