Sierra Sellers was dubbed an "artist to watch" in 2020 by NPR Music in early January. Sellers was nominated by a radio host from WYEP in Pittsburgh, Kyle Smith. See article below.
"I first discovered the music of Sierra Sellers after hearing her single, "Smooth," in 2017 and was drawn in by the soulful grooves, catchy chorus and the lyrics of empowerment. Sierra is a Pittsburgh-based neo-soul singer that found connection to and influence from musicians like India.Arie, Jill Scott, Beyoncé , and Erykah Badu. The past two years have been fast-paced and filled with artistic and professional growth, and she's quickly developed into an emerging talent as a writer and live performer with her band..." —Kyle Smith, WYEP
Sierra performed in an all female line up at Mr. Smalls Theater in August 2019. Not only was it all female, but all women of color as well. Something that is not common in Pittsburgh, or at Mr. Smalls Theater. Below is an article Sellers was featured in discussing the importance of support when it comes to being a woman in music.
The Pittsburgh Current did a cover story of Sierra Sellers in 2019. She was the headliner for their stage at the Deutschtown Music Festival in Pittsburgh, and she performed on the main stage the next evening for the festival as well. See the cover below.
"When you see her live, there may be only one thing more noticeable than Sewickley native Sierra Sellers’ signature blonde curls – the energy she brings to the room." -Logan Armstrong, The Pittsburgh 100
"Sierra Sellers, 24, is one of the youngest and most promising voices in Pittsburgh’s soul scene." -Sam Bojarski, Sewickley Herald.

"WPTS Radio was lucky enough to host Sierra Sellers this January. And I was lucky enough to watch her perform live on air from the radio station! Sierra Sellers walked in to the station with only herself, her guitarist (Alex Jeffe), and an acoustic guitar. She left with all that plus the support of many new fans: everyone who had heard her play that night. To be honest, it’s hard not to like her music. Sierra Sellers has a definite acoustic singer-songwriter feel, but with an added R&B/soul influence. Her voice, full of effortless smoothness, is the highlight of her music." -Julia Coakley WPTS Radio
