Success for All!
NLPS Partners with Nisga'a (SD 92)

NLPS is searching for interested teachers and education assistants for a partnership with Nisga'a, School District No. 92. We are supportive of our educational friends in the north and want to support a small number of teachers and EAs to work in SD92 this coming school year.

Staff would keep their position and take a leave from NLPS and accrue seniority for the year they work in the north. The Nisga'a school district is situated 97 km north of Terrace, BC. The lands of the Nisga'a Nation are blessed with soaring mountains, dramatic lava beds and thriving rivers and streams. Nisga'a lands are complemented by the rich cultural traditions of the Nisga'a People. Current positions available:

  • Primary teacher
  • Intermediate teacher
  • Secondary Humanities teachers, including those with electives (arts education, ADST)
  • Secondary Math teacher
  • Education assistants

Some incentives to consider:

  • A moving allowance
  • Comfortable, furnished and affordable housing (with potential refunds to cover the cost of rent, utilities and internet)
  • Possible flights within Canada to fly home on long weekends, winter and spring break

Roughing It Fundraiser for Youth Homelessness

The Nanaimo Youth Services Association (NYSA) and the Rotary Clubs in Nanaimo are hosting a fundraising event called Roughing It to raise awareness and money for youth homelessness. In Nanaimo, 100 youth are homeless tonight. Community members are coming together to honour and support young people who have nowhere to go.

Do you want to join a community of dedicated individuals and teams to support young people facing homelessness? Can you give up sleeping in your bed for one night (September 23) and be part of changing the lives of youth? If you're interested in becoming part of a NLPS team initiative, please email sdebodt@sd68.bc.ca. There are also other ways to get involved. Find out more.
