Leh - Ladakh Trip to Remember

Trip starting up from Manali

Started bus journey from Manali to Leh.. The bus journey was suppose to take two days and staying that day at a place called keyLong.

Somewhere between Manali and Keylong

At Keylong, arrangement was made for us to sleep in tents. The arrangement was made infront of an hotel but what else could you ask for , for Rs2500 journey from Manali - Leh(Dinner inclusive)

Next day, bus started around 4am , had to stop at baralaccha pass for 5-6 hrs as one oil tanker slipped off the road and Indian Army came to help to clear away the road.

Then the next phase of journey started.... 12hrs....stopping in between at few places.

Then came the moore plains. This stretch of 40 km falls in between Leh and Sarchu on Leh–Manali Highway.

It would have been a awesome feeling to drive bullet rather than on the bus but never the less view was impressive, didn't feel like we were in the mountain ranges anymore.

Then came the Tanglangla pass. It is world's second highest motorable road in the world

At Tanglangla pass

Reached Leh that day around 11pm. Checked into hotel. Got up to the below breathtaking view.

Next day was kind off a rest day and also needed to make your body ready in such low oxygen atmosphere. Went down to Leh Palace and leh market.

View from Leh Palace

Next day we went down to a nearby monastery for a local festival (Sry for forgetting the name of the festival)

Local dance festival

Next day we took bikes on rent and started our journey to Nubra Valley via Khardungla Pass. Khardungla pass is the highest motorable road in the world.

At Khardungla pass

We are not suppose to stay at this peak for more than 30 mins as might cause a serious case of nausea.

Then reached same day at Nubra Valley. Nubra valley is famous for sand dunes and double hump camel.

These videos are taken on our way to Nubra valley.

On the way to Nubra Valley

Had lots of fun at Nubra valley. View was breathtaking so we extended our stay at this place for another day. Night sky was marvelous

Being a pillion rider on Bullet 500cc, i can still remember the pain in my back due to this Leh-Khardungla-Nubra-Khardungla-Leh journey

Then next day we started our trip to Pangong Tso lake. This lake is famous due to a movie "3 Idiots".

Caught a prawn fish at the lake :-P

Then after that we went down to kalchakra event held that year in Leh in which Dalai Lama came. It is one of the biggest events i have ever seen.

Next day we went to a delusional spot called magnetic hill. This place gives you the appearance of a neutral vehicle moving uphill. But the main point here is when you go to a certain spot you can easily see that the road ahead is downhill but the appearance as standing on the road gives the impression of uphill.

Then we started our end journey from Leh to Srinagar via Kargil and Drass.

Kargil

Tiger hill is visible in the above pic.

Then later that day at Drass..... It's second coldest inhabitable place in the world

Then we took break at a place called Amarnath. Apparently my friends wanted to "The Amarnath yatra" and i wanted to catch up on my lovely sleep :-)

After staying in Amarnath for two days we started to head back to Srinagar from where we had to catch our flights. Stayed there for couple of days though.

Pics taken from my boat(i.e house boat) at Nigeen lake.

Well that concludes my 16 days trip that we were planning since we left college. I hope i go on several trips like these.......until then this is THE BEST TRIP OF MY LIFE!!!!!!

This is the journey worth doing several times!!!
