Discovery Bible Study Method (ABC)

ASK

What do you have to be thankful for? Pray it out to God.

BIBLE

Choose a simple passage | Reread it | Retell it

Then ask “What does this say about God?” | “What does this say about us?” | “Are there areas you are bothered by?” | “What do you like?” | “What needs to be understood or obeyed from this passage?”

COMMIT

"Teach them to obey." Ask: So what will you do about this?

How can I obey or love Jesus more after reading this Bible passage?

Meditation on the Living Word

Read Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2-3; Colossians 3:16

To meditate: to mutter, murmur, growl, speak in undertones

Read Psalm 119:9, 11

Read it out loud.

Pray it out loud.

Sing it out loud.

Proclaim it over yourself out loud.

Practice this with Ephesians 1:3-8. Personalise it.

Re-tell the Bible story.

Read the passage, then reread it. Understand the characters and the sequence, so that you can re-tell the story.

Practice this with Mark 10:46-52.

Application is the KEY

The Bible is meant to be USED primarily, not studied.

Your relationship with Jesus is built by you HEARING His voice and DOING what He says. Do not read the Bible for information. Always be asking Jesus how you can obey Him and love Him more from the Bible passage that you have just read.
