Another busy week in school with lots happening. It was also Anti - Bullying week this week. Some wonderful writing, some Maths to get children thinking, some wonderful Art work, some delightful discussions in lessons and the beginnings of the mention of Christmas!
School life
This week Reception have been having lots of fun finding out about the Hindu festival of Diwali. The children have listened to the Diwali story and have been finding out how Hindus celebrate Diwali at home. They have made their own Diva lamps and Happy Diwali cards and have been busy creating Rangoli patterns. We have been doing lots of work on repeating patterns in Maths. We celebrated the end of our Diwali week by learning a Diwali dance and having a Diwali party. If you would like to find out more about the Diwali please see the links below to some of the videos we used. https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/stories/lets-celebrate-diwali
In Year 5 they have been busy being super authors. Here is just a little sample of the amazing writing from them this week:
In Year 2 there has been some amazing poetry work:
Year 4’s odd socks for Anti-Bullying week. We wear odd socks because we recognise everybody is different and unique in their own way. Year 3 and Year 4 also request if the children could bring a handful of twigs in for a project in school.
This week in nursery the children have been exploring light and dark. They have learned about nocturnal creatures and made pictures of them using line and paint. The children have enjoyed experimenting with food colouring to create their own colourful rain and learn about the transparency of water. The light box has been used to tell stories about spiders trapping flies in their webs. We have been so busy this week we have even explored reasons for wearing a head torch. We're all excited to find out more about light and dark!
Year 1 have been doing some wonderful writing based around reports
christmas
I am delighted to share with you that we will be doing a whole school Nativity this year, with the whole school taking part.
Each 'Bubble' will have their own section, this will then all be edited together to great a Galley Hill Production for Christmas. This will be streamed in the last week of school so that you can all watch from the comfort of your home as a whole family. Further details of this will be coming soon!
Although we can't have the usual Christmas fayre, there will be a virtual one instead, where you will still be able to buy Christmas goods that the children have made, as well as other items.
There are also lots of other festive treats winging their way over the next couple of weeks to make it as festive as possible! Look out for a letter with more information at the beginning of next week.
