Futures for Somerset were appointed to work with Taunton Academy to secure and deliver IT funding from the Education Funding Agency. We acted as a procurement agent to the Academy enabling the development and implementation of a leading edge IT solution through our partner RM Education.

The Taunton Academy IT project resulted in a largely Apple orientated IT solution. The development of an innovative model has enabled the Academy to offer a 1:1 device to student ratio through the use of iPads. The scheme also delivered significant levels of change management in the use of IT for staff, resulting in the flexible delivery of teaching through iPad and Apple TV solutions.

FfS have acted as Project Managers and Procurement Advisors to the Academy, facilitating the management and delivery of this complex ICT services contract. In addition Futures for Somerset provided cost management and contract negotiation services to help deliver a 5-year refresh programme for the Academy that met Education Funding Agency requirements.

Futures for Somerset secured £1.2 million from the Education Funding Agency for the delivery of this project. The project was co-ordinated and integrated alongside the main redevelopment of the campus, resulting in a combined project value of c. £11 million. The level of innovation and forward thinking of the IT solution was at the time ground breaking within a school environment.
