Friday Sermon & Kahoot

Brief Summary of Friday Sermon 31th March 2023

After reciting Tashahhud, Ta‘awwuz and Surah al-Fatihah, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad(aba) said that we are passing through the Ramadan, a month which brings about a spiritual atmosphere, as it should within a divine community.

His Holiness(aba) said that this month brings with it an increased attention towards worship, fasting and the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. The month of Ramadan and the Holy Qur’an have a distinct connection, as God Almighty states in the Holy Qur’an:

‘The month of Ramadan is that in which the Qur’an was sent down as a guidance for mankind with clear proofs of guidance and discrimination.’ (The Holy Qur’an, 2:186)

His Holiness(aba) said that according to some narrations, it was on the 24th of Ramadan that the Holy Prophet(sa) received the first Qur’anic revelation. It is also recorded that during this month, the angel Gabriel would go over the Holy Qur’an with the Holy Prophet(sa). Thus, especially during this month, we should focus on reciting and listening to the Holy Qur’an and its commentary.

His Holiness(aba) continued quoting the Promised Messiah(as) who said that the purpose of his advent was the revival of Islam, not to bring any new law or teachings, or to bring a new scripture. The law of the Holy Prophet(sa) is complete and now, no new law can be brought. The Holy Qur’an is the Seal of Books. The teachings of the Holy Qur’an are not outdated, rather its blessings continue to manifest in all times. The Promised Messiah(as) was sent so that people could better understand the Holy Qur’an and come to know this reality. It is stated in the Holy Qur’an:

‘And there is not a thing but with Us are the treasures thereof and We send it not down except in a known measure.’ (The Holy Qur’an, 15:22)

Eid ul Fitr 2023

InshaAllah this year's Eid ul Fitr will be on saturday 22nd march at 11:00 am at Mattlidens skola Matinsyrja 1, 02230 Espoo. The amount of fitrana is 3 euro for each member of a family. Fitrana must be paid before eid prayer.

As Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the very next day at the end of Ramadan, therefore a person should begin their day by carrying on the practise of offering Tahajud prayer, the obligatory prayer of Fajr and the recitation of the Holy Quran. However, one should not fast on this day. One should take a shower, wear good clothes, perfume and offer Eid prayer in congregation which is offered in an open area or the mosque before the sun begins to set.

Eid-ul-Fitr means “the feast of breaking the fast.” It is a festival that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and it is celebrated on 1st Shawwal.

Hazrat Anas(ra) narrates,

“The Messenger(sa) of Allah never proceeded [for the prayer] on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates.” He also relates that, “The Holy Prophet(sa) used to eat an odd number of dates.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Eidain)

Hazrat Jabir(ra) bin Abdullah relates,

“On the day of Eid, the Holy Prophet(sa) used to return [after offering the Eid prayer] using a different route from that which he went by.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Eidain)
