God will guide us to be:

Kind

Shoe Boxes

Shortly before half term, we launched our T4U Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. Many thanks to the children and families who have kindly donated Shoe Boxes.

The Shoe Boxes are being picked up on Monday 14th November by T4U. It is not too late to donate a shoe box.

We understand that it is a busy and expensive time of year, we hope as many of our families can support this really good cause.

Children in Need

Next Friday is the annual ‘Children in Need’ day. Children can wear their own clothes to school for a small donation to Children in Need. You can donate via our Just Giving Page, please click on the button below.

Safe

We have been working hard to look after our school environment so everyone can keep safe.

Valued

Birthdays

We have lots of children celebrating their birthdays during the month of November:

  • Daniel
  • Benji
  • Razey
  • Janvi
  • Jake
  • Layla

Our Best

Wonderful Week of Learning

Look at our wonderful week of learning. We are very proud of our children for trying their best and not giving up.

Remembrance

This week in school, we have been thinking about Remembrance. Today, we held a special remembrance service and everyone paid their respects during the minute silence.

Squash

Children in Year 5/6 visited Brymbo Squash Club for coaching from Jim and Mark. It was a great experience for the children to play on a real squash court and to learn how to play properly.

Children can turn up and play on a Monday evening for a free trial session at Brymbo. Please visit www.wrexhambrymbosquash.co.uk for more information and support our local club.

Boccia

Rob Darlington from Active Wrexham, visited school this week. He introduced Year 3/4 children to playing Boccia.

Minera Community Remembrance Service

We have been invited by the Minera Community Council to attend the annual Remembrance Service at the War Memorial in Minera on Saturday 12th November.

The order of events is as follows:

  • 10:30am – Children meet at School (Please wear school uniform)
  • 10.45am - Service at Minera War Memorial by the bus shelter. Readings, prayers, minute silence at 11am, laying of wreaths and crosses will take place. Children will be laying a wreath at the memorial.

As this event is taking place on a Saturday, children must be accompanied by an adult. Your presence at this event would be greatly valued. If you are able to attend, please confirm via email.

Reading at home

Reading with, or encouraging your child to read regularly at home is the best way you can support us in school. We expect children to read regularly (at least four to five times a week) and all children have a school book to take home with them. Children will also read regularly in school.

Please remember that children in Year 3 to 6 and their parents can now use Boom Reader to log reading. Boom Reader is a digital reading record that will allow us in school, you at home and children to log their reading. There are two ways of logging reading for your child. You can either use the web version or download the app. There is also a separate app for pupils to log their own reading if appropriate. If you would prefer to continue using the paper reading records then that is fine, just keep logging reading here and we will do the same in school. In Foundation Phase, we will continue to use the paper reading records to log children’s reading.

After School Football Club

This week saw our first after school football club session for Years 4-6. The children had a great time and showed off their football skills. There are two more sessions for Years 4-6 before children in Years 1-3 have their turn. You can see photographs of the session here: https://www.mineraprimary.com/gallery/

Please follow the link if you would like to sign your child up for the club.

Friends of Minera - Christmas Fair on Friday 9th December

It is only just over 4 weeks to the school Christmas Fair and preparations are well underway. Two of our Grandparents have been very busy knitting some lovely raffle prizes as well as toys for our stall (these make nice Christmas presents) and lovely tree decorations . We also have lots of chocolate oranges wearing Christmas hats - great stocking fillers for young and old alike! The photos show just a few of the items that are available. Let a member of the Friends of Minera committee know if you would like to order anything in advance.

We are going to be decorating the grotto in preparation for a visit from Father Christmas and we would really appreciate donations of any festive decorations you can spare.

There will be a no uniform day on Friday 2nd December for donations of items for our raffle and tombola - wine, chocolates, biscuits, toiletries, Christmas novelties, etc.
