With the temperature plummeting and winter becoming more prominent each day, people often spend more time inside, leading to boredom. However, enjoyable activities can still be done outside in order to provide some fun in the bleak gray of winter.

The ice skating rink at Longshore remains a popular location among people of all ages. Ice skating is a social activity that can help people get active while also making the most of the winter season outside.

Although skiing is more of an involved activity than ice skating, it is also a fun way to get active. Staples students can utilize skiing lodges nearby like Ski Sundown, which is only a couple towns over and can provide a fun-filled afternoon.

Downtown Westport encompasses many stores where people can shop for the holidays while enjoying the winter weather. Decorated with holiday garnish, shopping in downtown Westport is the perfect outdoor pass time.

Further, summer activities can be seen through a different lens. Going to the beach and tanning in the sun may be a fun activity for the summer, but the beach can also be enjoyed during the winter. Winter walks on the beach set a calm and serene mood.

If all else fails outdoors, baking indoors is always a good idea. Making gingerbread houses is a way to stay entertained even when cooped up in the house.

Although there is a temptation to stay inside during the cold winter season, do not let the fierce weather deter you from enjoying the outdoors.
