Why Study Spanish or Portuguese?

Spanish is the second-most widely-spoken language in the world and Portuguese is in the top seven.

Spanish is spoken at home by 28% of New Mexicans.

New Mexicans who speak only Spanish face economic, educational, and health barriers. Bilinguals open doors and find opportunities.

  • think it is very important for recent college graduates to have critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills;
  • think it is very important for recent college graduates to have good written and oral communication skills;
