Pasture Valley Newsletter March 2023 - May 2023

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." - 1 Corinthians 3:6-7

LOOK AT OUR MIELIES AND BANANAS GROW!

Hospital Visit

We are so proud of these four girls who volunteered to visit the hospital one Sunday after church. They bravely went and prayed for the people there and ministered to those who were sick.

Mothers' Day

Where would we be without our amazing house mothers and aunties? This outing to KFC was just a small thank you for all the work they put into helping to raise the children at PV.

Artists in the Making

The home school children are experimenting with different art styles, including pointillism (think Seurat), impressionism (Monet) and even some surrealism (Dali). We have been impressed by their creativity!

Choose to Wait Course

Many thanks to Leo Baan and his team of volunteers who facilitated the "Choose to Wait" course for the PV youth and some youth from outside PV too.

Boys' Camping Trip

Breaking New Ground

Some of the foundations have been laid for the new nursery and farm shop at the new plot close to town! We are excited to see what God has planned for this place.

Outing to the Fire Station and Police Station

Make Motsa's New Home with Electricity

STREEC Updates...and a Fancy Electric Car

So much has been happening on the STREEC side of things! Just in time too, because there are rumblings that eSwatini will soon start to experience load-shedding like SA. Also, the new training centre was finally completed! Here are some pics from the opening ceremony.

STREEC brought in the FIRST fully electric vehicle into eSwatini!

Soccer Match against Tfokotani

Fun on the Farm

We are thankful Aunty Gail was here during the summer to give more swimming lessons to the children! This is such a valuable skill for them to learn. But there has been a lot happening outside of school and sports too! Many more hikes to the hay-bales, mini-trips with the preschoolers, and rides in the Tail-G electric scooter from Pasture Valley. It's not hard to find little volunteers for those kinds of activities!

Siyabonga's New Car

It caused quite a stir at PV when Siyabonga rocked up with his new wheels! Needless to say, we are very proud of this young man, and how hard he works. Praise God for His faithfulness.

More Reasons to Celebrate

Big congratulations go to all the house mothers who completed their first aid training. We hope they will feel more confident in using their skills in the home! Also, Anele received a brand-new laptop! This will help with her studies and possibly work in the future. We are also very proud of Nokwanda, who has been excelling across many areas. Not only was she the only one who caught a fish during the fishing trip, but she also won a whole bucket of KFC for her dancing skills at a campaign in town!

Car Crash

Unfortunately, the Isuzu bakkie was in an accident recently after it skidded and rolled on a gravel road. Fortunately, no one was hurt and all the passengers got out safely! Praise God for that!

Visitors

We are so blessed at Pasture Valley with all the wonderful people who come through! It was lovely having Mike, Gail and Dr Marty again, and even Cara and Jaryd came for a short visit!

Easter Service

Aside from the traditional Easter Egg hunt, this year we also experienced a traditional Passover meal with the children.

Support Group

The Support Group Mamas learnt how to make soap recently! They can now use this skill at home or even to earn a little income.
