Welcome back to School for 2023!!

We hope you have all had a wonderful holiday and a well-earned rest over the Christmas period. Are you all ready to start back for Spring 1 Term 2023?

As the weather is now very cold during the next couple of winter months, please ensure that children come to school every day with a warm coat and suitable footwear due to the cold weather. We endeavour to take the children out every day for some fresh air at playtimes/lunchtimes so the children need appropriate clothing and footwear.

In the event of any adverse weather during the next couple of winter months, which could potentially prevent school from opening, we will message parents/carers via Arbor accordingly. We will also update the Barnsley Council's 'Schools currently closed' website page - see the link below. Should we have to close school - work will be provided for all children using seesaw.

https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/services/children-families-and-education/schools-and-learning/schools-currently-closed/

WGPS Super Stars of the Week

We will continue with our WGPS SUPER STARS OF THE WEEK in Assemblies. Each week in our WGPS Assemblies we give the WGPS SUPER STARS OF THE WEEK awards to pupils who have been outstanding in school and also achieved special awards outside of school too.

Any child that gains a 'Star of The Week' also sits at the 'Captain's Table' on a Monday which has special treats, tablecloths, posh glasses to make it extra special.

Attendance

We are committed to promoting a culture of high expectations, achievement and excellence. Good attendance is crucial if students are to take advantage of the opportunities available to them and complete a successful journey through their time at our school as they move on into higher education or the world of work.

WGPS's Attendance for Autumn Term 2 (November to December 2022) was:

93.33%

Let's see if we can beat the above attendance during Spring Term 1 (January to February 2023) for Attendance.

Spring 1 Term 100% Attendance - The School Council will decide what the prize for Spring 1 Term 100% Attendance is in their meeting on Friday 13th January 2023.

Further details of WGPS's Attendance Policy can be found on the link below on our WGPS Website:

https://www.wardgreenprimary.org/attendance-policy-2022-2/

Please remember that if your child is unwell and not able to come to school for whatever reason you should telephone school on 01226 286510 to let us know and report their absence. Please note that our telephone lines can be very busy at times in a morning so you can always leave a message on the school's answer machine to report your child's absence.

Arbor App

Please remember to download the ARBOR APP.

WGPS uses the Arbor School Management/Communication System. The systems allows parents/carers to receive emails/letters/in app messages, to make payments for dinners/trips/after school clubs, book parent evening slots and see your child's attendance, behaviour and progress etc. If you upload the ARBOR APP and log into your account you will be able to gain access to all the information school sends out, so you never miss out on school events. If you have any problems logging in to your ARBOR account, please contact the School Office on telephone number 01226 286510 for further assistance.

Admissions to School

Just a reminder the CLOSING DATE for ADMISSIONS TO PRIMARY SCHOOL is 15TH JANUARY 2023.
