The weather in October in the Pyrenees foothills of Catalonia, Spain can be almost perfect. Just a couple of hours drive from Barcelona, the medieval towns of Besalú and Rupit make for a fantastic day trip. As you meander through the tight streets there is a lot of public art and you might notice a mysterious chair theme.
From Besalú there are a multitude of options to visit other fantastic villages. About an hour's drive through winding roads and gorgeous countryside is the wonderful village of Rupit. Mounted on top of a rugged hill, cars are not allowed. Not a problem, there is ample parking in the lot at the north entrance of the village.
