Content Info For The Week
Math (Swindell, Beasley, and Meeks):
This week, scholars will being all operations with numbers in scientific notation. This is the last section of Unit 2. Monday and Tuesday we will be adding and subtracting numbers in scientific notation. Wednesday and Thursday we will be multiplying and dividing numbers in scientific notation. Friday we will review all operations.
Algebra I (Meeks):
This week scholars will wrap up 8th grade standards by taking their 8th grade standards assessment on Tuesday. Wednesday we will begin Algebra One standards. Wednesday through Friday we will work on simplifying radicals as well as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing radicals.
ELA (Styron and Bright):
This week scholars will describe how an author uses steps in a process to structure the events, ideas, concepts, and information in a text, summarize the topic and important details of a text, avoiding personal judgments, use active reading, viewing, and listening as they continue working through their individualized and differentiated app segments and continue reading their selected novels.
ELA (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, we will be honing our knowledge of the components of an argument by studying a real-life court case: the infamous case of Lizzie Borden. Students will analyze authentic documents from the case in order to determine whether Lizzie was guilty or not guilty. Students will practice writing closing arguments as they would be presented in a courtroom and debate one another on whether they think the verdict was correctly or incorrectly rendered.
9th Grade Lit (Lee):

Students will be exploring Physical and Chemical properties of matter. Student will be able to determine real life situations and tell if they are physical or chemical changes.
Social Studies (MacArthur and Lewis):
This week in Mr. MacArthur's class students will be taking their midterm assessment for Georgia Studies. The test will cover content over the Geography of Georgia, early European Exploration, the Creation of the Georgia Colony, and Georgia's role in the American Revolution. Students will be taking the assessment on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Students will be given a study guide to help them prepare for the test at home, and will be given a "study card" to fill out that they will be able to use on the test.
