Honouring Queen Elizabeth II in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia
The Town of Annapolis Royal honoured the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II on Feb. 6, 1952 in royal fashion on June 2, 2022. Pictured above are Mayor Amery Boyer (pictured right, dressed as the Duchess of Malbourough), Town Crier Christine Igot, Police Chief Mark Kane and Town Councillors: Michael Tompkins and Paula Hafting (back row, left to right) with Pat Power (Deputy Mayor/Town Councillor) and Councillor Holly Sanford (front row, left to right).
This historic occasion was enjoyed by all.
Jane Nicholson was awarded a Platinum Jubilee medal in the Heritage category.
Town Crier Christine Igot read the Platinum Jubilee proclamation at 2 pm on June 2, 2022. This proclamation was written by Lady Town Crier Jane Smith in England. All Town Criers throughout the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth countries read the same proclamation at the same time. Christine gave the official Diamond Jubilee proclamation in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia in both of Canada's official languages of English and French.
