From Thursday May 25th to Saturday May 27th, the Mammoths competed at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, New York!

On Wednesday, all of the Mammoths checked out the track and field facilities to be ready to compete starting on Thursday.

Decathlon
Jack Trent kicked off competition in the Decathlon on Thursday morning, starting with the 100 meter dash. Jack placed fourth in his heat, running a time of 11.74 seconds. Next, Jack
Next, Jack competed in the Long Jump where he jumped a mark of 6.06 meters (19' 10.75"), placing 20th overall.
Next, Jack competed in the Shot Put, where his best throw of 11.71 meters (38' 5") placed him tenth overall.
Jack then competed in the High Jump, where he cleared 1.66 meters (5' 5.25") and unfortunately, Jack had to withdraw from the competition after competing in the High Jump due to injuries.

400 Hurdles
Ellis Phillips-Gallucci was next to compete and he competed in the preliminary round of the 400 Hurdles. Ellis ran a fantastic race, as he was in third place in the first half of the race and seized the lead on the 9th hurdle with less than 100 meters to go. He leaned at the line to win his heat in a time of 52.64 seconds, automatically qualifying for Saturday's final in the event!
Eliza Cardwell competed in the Women's 400 Hurdles and unfortunately, she was disqualified from the race.

3,000 Steeplechase
Mary Kate McGranahan competed in the 3,000 Steeplechase preliminary race on Thursday night. On the second lap, Mary Kate made a great move up to third place and stayed in touch with the race leaders, looking smooth and strong as she progressed in the race! Mary Kate then moved up to second place and held her place in the final lap, crossing the finish line in second place in a personal best time of 10:31! Mary Kate qualified for Saturday's final in the event and broke her previous personal best by 18 seconds!

Eliza Cardwell competed in the 100 Hurdles preliminary round and she ran a great race, placing fifth in her heat and thirteenth overall in a time of 14.08 seconds! Had the wind been less than 2.0 m/s, as it was 2.3 m/s during the race, her time would have a new school record!

3,000 Steeplechase
Mary Kate McGranahan competed in Saturday's 3,000 Steeplechase final after qualifying for the Final on Thursday. Mary Kate got out to a strong start, positioning herself with a great pack of runners. Mary Kate ran hard during every lap of the race and finished in 11th place in a time of 10:56. Going in as the 22nd seed, Mary Kate improved upon her seed by 11 places, an incredible feat at the National Championship meet!

Ellis Phillips-Gallucci qualified to compete in the 400 Hurdles Final after winning his preliminary heat on Thursday. He got out to a strong start and was moving up in the field and looking great with 100 meters to go! Unfortunately, he tripped and fell over the last hurdle and got up to finish the race in 8th place, earning All-American honors! Ellis worked so hard and we are so proud of him for competing at the highest level and earning All-American honors in his final event as a Mammoth!
