Celebrating Solar how Renewable energy Creates career paths

Our transition to low carbon energy can create rewarding careers, especially for many looking for a new beginning. Apprenticeship programs can help connect underserved populations with on-the-job training and certification opportunities, leading to rewarding long-term careers in solar, construction and related industries.

At the Elm Branch Solar project in Texas, partners with shared sustainability goals came together to show how it can be done: Lightsource bp, L3Harris Technologies, McCarthy Building Companies, Adaptive Construction Solutions (ACS).

Creating jobs for veterans at Elm Branch Solar

Lightsource bp's Elm Branch solar project in Ellis County, Texas highlights the power of solar apprenticeships. The 163MW project was built with help from 50 Texas veterans completing a solar apprenticeship through veteran-owned ACS. The program provided these veterans and other individuals from underserved populations with on-the-job training with McCarthy Building Companies and the opportunity to continue working in solar construction with McCarthy upon completion.

The solar farm is delivering 100MW of capacity to L3Harris Technologies through a long-term power purchase agreement. This video celebrates shared sustainability goals and their impact; lowering carbon emissions while increasing energy security for Texans and providing meaningful opportunities for our veterans.
