Harshini V. de Silva Graduate Mentor Award

2016 Recipient, Dr. Chance Lewis, Distinguished Professor, Middle-Secondary Education

The Harshini V. de Silva Graduate Mentor Award began in 2001 to highlight distinguished, active graduate faculty members who have a proven record fostering growth and success among their students. Evidence of an outstanding graduate mentor should include activities that demonstrate not only a clear dedication to providing graduate students with the skills and resources that they need to succeed as scholars, but also a sincere and active interest in the well-being of their students. These efforts should be related to past students' professional appointments and accomplishments as scholars. The de Silva award honors the memory of Dr. Harshini V. de Silva, an associate professor of biology, known for her dedication to the academic and professional development of graduate students.

2015 Recipient, Dr. Dena L. Shenk – Professor Emeritus, Anthropology

The Graduate School is honored to facilitate these two outstanding awards, and congratulates the recipients annually at receptions held in their honor. Please look for our call for nominations in the fall semester and encourage all graduate faculty to apply.
