Girls Varsity Volleyball Team's Senior Night Ends in Close Match Against Nueva Reporting & photos by Alyssa Garcia & Tyler Yuen

Students, staff and teachers gathered in the gym to celebrate the last home game of the 2021 girls' varsity volleyball season on Oct. 27. All five seniors (Camila Sandoval, Mia Guevara, Alexandra Rozmarin, Ashritha Cheeyandira and Gabriela Lugo) were celebrated with posters, flowers and balloons.

“We’ve come a long way from when I joined UPA volleyball and I think that is something to be proud of as not only a team, but an athletic department,” Co-Captain Guevara (12) said.

The game ended in a 2-3 loss against Nueva. The first set went to UPA at 25-19; the Eagles dropped the second set at 13-25; they gained a third set win at 25-18; and lost the fourth and fifth sets at 20-25 and 12-15. This season marks the furthest advancement UPA's volleyball team has achieved, making it all the way to the CCS quarter-finals on Oct. 27 but losing the semifinals on Nov. 4.
