Teaching English- At Promise Students.
Teaching English in Mabar, Etgar, Technological Centers and Miftanim classes creates endless challenges for teachers and students as well. We, at the department for at- risk students in the MOE, aim at offering formal and informal support for our teachers. We believe that as teachers juggle a multitude of different tasks and demands, it is important that they are given practical support so that they can, in turn, support their students.
For at-risk students, the key to success in high school lies in convincing them that a satisfying future is within their grasp, and then showing them how their education relates to their future goals. Our strong belief is that learning English is a means by which we can change our students’ life trajectory. English is a “super skill”, a language of wider communication. Once it is acquired it can enable our students to cope with English for the rest of their lives.
Teaching English in our schools is designed to assist students by motivating them and giving them tools that are necessary to complete the requirements for Bagrut matriculations (at a level of 3 points at the least). Our aim is to minimize gaps in language skills by creating an appropriate, supportive learning environment adapted to the needs of these students.
