VIDEO
In this video we are about to show, magnesium is being dissolved in the copper sulfate solution.
TYPE OF REACTION
This reaction is a single replacement because in the chemical equation CuSO4+Mg, Cu and Mg switch places so the equation is now MgSO4+Cu. This is an example of a single replacement because only one pair of elements switch with each other.
EXOTHERMIC OR ENDOTHERMIC?????
CuSO4+Mg--->MgSO4+Cu is exothermic because energy is released in the reaction when the magnesium is dropped into the copper sulfate solution, the magnesium dissolves. We know this because the mixture gets warmer and sizzles and the temperature increases.
ACID OR BASE?1?1?1?1?1?1?1?1
CuSO4+Mg is acidic because when copper sulfate reacts with magnesium, the magnesium dissolves in the solution. This shows it is an acid because bases do not react with metals like magnesium, but acids do. The blue litmus paper also turned red so that means it is an acid.
