Term 2B Week 2

We found a parcel in our classroom on Monday. When we opened it, we found a bus inside. We thought about buses and did a little writing. Some of us are yet to travel on a bus. Later in the week we came in to find a terrible mess in the classroom! Who had made this mess? We considered rules and why they are important. On Thursday we read the story of ‘The Naughty Bus’ which we loved and realised it must have been the bus that made the mess. We are also doing really well with our magic link writing.

In Maths, we have been doing some addition. We have been trying to complete them without counting, but by bridging through 10 because we are learning to know our numbers inside out! This week we have used cuisinaire to deepen our knowledge and understanding.

We investigated which materials were waterproof and which were not in Science. We were trying to work out which material would make the best umbrella for the teddy.

Our computing work was based on programming robots. We learned all about the buttons in the BeeBot to start with. Afterwards we pretended we were robots and followed clear instructions. Then we began to give our first instructions to the BeeBot.

We investigated vehicles in DT and sorted them. Then we drew and labelled pictures of our choice. History followed and we learned that the wheel was invented 6000 years ago. We took 60 steps backwards in our yard (each step was worth 100 years) to go back in time 6000 years.

We finished our first novel this week - ‘The Magic Finger’. It was a fabulous read and made us laugh a lot.
