Learning Together nursery, summer term, week 6

Thank you to everyone who was able to come to our Hooks into Books morning. We had fun reading, dancing, crafting and chatting together. We hope you are enjoying your free book at home.

A 'wild rumpus' in nursery on Wednesday.

Every day we practise our counting skills and number recognition together. It has become interesting for the children to have a go at writing numbers to five (or beyond in their play).

Beautiful number formation.
Well done everyone!

Our recognition and writing of letters also comes on in leaps and bounds every day.

Outside we've been enjoying the sunshine while working on our threading skills. This exercises the smaller muscles in our fingers.

A tall tower of colourful bobbins.
Concentrating to get the thread in the centre hole.
Fine motor activities inside, using the pegs.
Making patterns on the peg boards.

There have been plenty of gross motor exercises too. We loved Mr Walker's challenge to transport water while moving over and under obstacles.

We love team challenges.

We weren't just getting wet outside. Inside too! We had the opportunity to match different animals to their habitats in a hands-on exploration of land, water and ice.

Sea creatures in the water.
Arctic animals in the ice.

Things got topsy-turvy in the creative zone. We used the paint sticks and oil pastels on the underside of our painting table. This is great for our core strength and just plain fun.

One more day to go until the holidays. I hope you all have a lovely time with your family and we will see you back in school on the 12th June.
