CleanShield Surface Coating Treatments SELF SANITISING | sELF CLEANING

How long can the coronavirus survive on surfaces?

At 20°C we found that the virus was extremely robust. We were able to recover infectious material at 28 days from all the smooth (non-porous) surfaces. Studies have shown that high contact surfaces such as touchscreens on mobile phones, bank ATMs, airport check-in kiosks and supermarket self-serve kiosks can all act as potentially contaminated surfaces for the transmission of viruses.” (source: CSIRO – Oct 2020)

How it works

CleanShield surface coating with Titanium Dioxide (Ti02) and Silver (Ag) nano-particle photocatalyst technology provides a permanent surface decontamination for interiors workplaces, public access areas, and external structures.

CleanShield Surface Coatings are based on water-based solvent (with near zero VOC) and natural mineral titanium dioxide and silver nanoparticles.

Once applied by specialists using specially designed ‘electrostatic’ (ES) spray equipment, all surfaces will remain continuously actively antimicrobial for around 12 months provided that enough light is present at the surface to activate the nano-particle photocatalytic oxidation process of the CleanShield modified Tio2/Ag coating.

The coatings surface simply requires any light source direct or reflective sunlight, or UV, reflective, fluorescent & LED light to activate the TiO2/Ag nanoparticle photocatalytic process that destroys bacteria and viruses.

Once applied, key areas such as shared work spaces, meeting rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, lifts, front counters, reception areas, waiting rooms and similar areas all generally have sufficient lighting to activate the antimicrobial process.

Application process

Following a periodic deep clean, CleanShield antimicrobial initial coating is applied to surfaces with customised electrostatic sprayers.

After approximately 20-30 minutes a second coat is then applied.

Following the final application, treated areas are now protected and ready for use.

Public Transport Case Study

Prague is now treating public transit vehicles with CleanShield Surface Coatings

Quote from Director General Prague Transport:

Public transit vehicles are getting an antiviral and antibacterial nanotechnology polymer coating, with finished vehicles are marked with stickers for our ATM monitoring program.

The interior of metro trains running on line B are already being treated with CleanShield Indoor Coating TiO2 with a broad-spectrum disinfectant effect that eliminates 99.9% of viruses, bacteria, fungi and mold. The basic active substance of the preparation is titanium dioxide (TiO2) and Silver (Ag) that have been proven to be protective in the Metro environment for more than 12 months following a regular monthly ATP monitoring program.

The CleanShield Titanium Dioxide surface coating is being systematically applied to all interior vehicle surfaces in electrostatic aerosol form, treating ceilings, walls, glass, doors, seats, handrails and restraint systems — all areas that people touch or where microorganisms could settle.

"After applied CleanShield’s (coating) products to Metro subways, random bacteria inspection counting keep reducing by 90%-95% effectively in a one-year of continuous monitoring even with more than millions trips everyday”

Monterrey, N. L. México Subway - July 2021

CleanShield Indoor Coating is the perfect solution for areas high density of people like airports, train stations, train carriages, busses and ferries.

"The activity has been shown to be capable of killing a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, filamentous and unicellular fungi, algae, protozoa, mammalian viruses and bacteriophage."

McDonalds European Kiosk Trial

McDonalds Finland is currently conducting extensive CleanShield surface coating trials for their customer ordering kiosks and store serving facilities with an objective to provide a safer, chemical-free long term in-store environment for customers and staff.

ATP test strip application

Initial bacterial ATP measurements on test kiosk touch screens and payment pads prior to applying CleanShield surface coating indicates a reasonably high bacterial reading of 1212 relative light units (RLU)

Reading prior to CleanShield Coating = 1212 RLU's

The CleanShield coating was applied to the internal store kiosks and keypads, then allowed to dry for an hour.

Testing after kiosk coating
Reading on touch kiosk screens & payment pads

Repeat APT testing of the identical pre-trial surfaces several hours later, the new readings indicated a significant reduction of surface bacteria to a 'safe' reading on 10 RLU's

Comment from McOpCO Manager Finland Headquarters

Absalon Hotel Denmark

"The result of CleanShield surface treatment solution is great.

We have minimized our cleaning costs significantly. In addition, the treatment at the Absalon Hotel, has protected the bathroom grouts and therefore there will be no more attacks by mold.

The treatment also keeps all bacteria and viruses away from our guests. CleanShield Coating treatment is highly recommended to other hotels as it saves us money with this solution in so many ways.

So nice to have a protected surface on all our new renovated rooms, and our customers love it together with the hotel housekeepers."

Karen Nedergaard - CEO Absalon Hotel Group

CleanShield Coatings technology consists of a extremely fine, transparent coating, based on near zero VOC water-based solvents and natural mineral titanium dioxide (Ti02).

The photocatalyst coating removes harmful organic chemical substances, bacteria and mould touching the surface without the use of harsh or toxic chemicals.

Official Compliance and Laboratory Testing

REACH Compliant
CleanShield surface coating is registered in the EU as a Biocidal Product

CleanShield Indoor Coating is registered under European Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 - Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) as a Biocidal Product.

What does this mean?

A biocidal product is a product with an active substance that is intended to destroy, deter, render harmless, prevent the action of, or otherwise exert a controlling effect on harmful or undesired organisms.

Tested on COVID-19
24/7 Permanent Surface Protection

The CleanShield surface coating has been laboratory tested to examine how successful the permanent CleanShield proprietary Ti02 & silver nanotechnology coating breaks down any presence of bacteria and viruses.

Recent testing was conducted by a leading European university research institute examining bacteria (Escherichia coli ATCC, Staphylococcus aureus subsp. Aureus), protocol (Acanthamoeba castellani Neff ATCC), and virus (ARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19) ATCC).

The laboratory diagnostics highlighted all subject microorganisms were totally decomposed on the surface within 1-5 minutes (including COVID-19) due to the active photocatalytic oxidation process of the CleanShield permanent coating material.

"Further microorganisms testing on the surface coatings at periods 8, 12, 24, 48 hours and 7 & 15 days, did not register any microorganisms".
