Hello and welcome to our new look newsletter.

Firstly may I thank you all for such a warm welcome this week - I have been so impressed with the entire school community. The children are so well behaved and there is a really calm, productive and positive feel around the classes.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing more and more things with you via Newsletters as well as through Class DOJO. There are already a number of exciting events being planned, with further details being sent out over the next few weeks, that include;

  • Fire Safety talk for Yr 3 (25th May).
  • Enterprise Day for Yr 6 (25th and 26th June).
  • Water Safety talk for Yr 5 and 6 (21st June).
  • Parents afternoons for a DT challenge (Week Commencing 23rd May).
  • Jubilee Celebration (date to be confirmed).
  • Library open afternoon (date to be confirmed - this half term).

As you have noticed staff are on hand before and afterschool on the playground if you have any ideas or suggestions. We are always happy to hear these and do what we can in partnership to help the children in our school.

Who to contact.

We recognise it can often be hard to know exactly who to contact about certain aspect of school.

  • Safeguarding and any concerns over pupil wellbeing - Mr I Goddard, Mrs S Weatherall, Mrs N Roebuck.
  • Special Education Needs - Mrs S Weatherall.
  • Pupil absence - Mrs L Pearce.
  • Any class based matter - Class teacher in the first instance.

News and Updates.

Special Mention Assemblies

We are delighted to announce that we will be running Special Mentions assemblies again from this Friday at 9.00am. This will be open to parents / families of the children who have received this award and a phone call will be made on Thursday after school to let you know - we want to keep this a secret and a nice surprise for the children.

Attendance

As a school we are keen to promote attendance and have children in school as much as possible. The expected attendance for Primaries is 96%. Currently we are at 92% so have a little bit of catch up to do over the Summer Term.

Absence reporting

Any absence has to be reported to the office before the start of the school day. If a child isn't in school and we don't have a reason we will contact you to make sure everything is okay. If we haven't heard about an absence for a couple of days we may pay a visit to your home.

Breakfast Club

After requests from parents we are opening this again on Tuesday 3rd May at 8.00am. For the reminder of the year this will be free for all children and there will be toast, bagels, cereal and juice available.

Children will have access to a range of activities including board games, Chromebook and art / crafts. With the weather getting better we may also be able to get some time in the Sports MUGA as well.

After school clubs

We are continuing to add more clubs after school. These run between 3.15pm and 4.15pm. Currently we have;

  • Wednesday - Football Club (currently full £15 for 5 weeks).
  • Wednesday - Circus Skills - places available £12 for 4 weeks.
  • Thursday - Art Club - free (if this has been paid for a refund will be issued)

If there are any clubs that you would like to see please do let us know.

Class DOJO

After talking with a number of parents on the playground it has been requested that school use Class DOJO to further improve communication. We will start this by posting information to the main page and then develop what we share on a class by class basis. We will also be using the messaging facility where you will be able to directly message the class teacher or a member of the leadership team.

This will become our main way to communicate with you and hopefully you will all have received individual log in details for your child / children.

If you have any problems downloading this please contact school and we will be happy to help.

School Uniform

Uniform and PE Kit

Can we please take this opportunity to remind all our families what school expect as a uniform. We have noticed an increasing number of children who are not following our policy.
