Dragon Journal January 7, 2022

Late Start Day on January 12th - School hours on late start days are 10:39am-4:07pm. Students may enter the building at 10:34am. Buses will run their usual routes only an hour and a half later than normal. Lunch times remain the same as regular school days.

Cold Weather Readiness - Students are expected to come to school prepared for outdoor recess. A warm coat, a hat, gloves, and boots are essential during the cold weather. If a child does not come to school with boots, they are restricted to a small area on the playground and cannot participate fully in outdoor recess when snowy and/or wet. Also, all students are sent outside, even if they do not bring a hat, gloves, or outdoor winter clothing. Please send your child prepared for outdoor recess.

2021-22 OUTSTANDING TROY TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS - We have many exemplary teachers and appreciate you taking the time to nominate an educator who has made a significant contribution in our students’ lives. The Troy School District Outstanding Teacher of the Year Awards are presented annually to honor and reward teachers in Troy who have achieved, through their effort and example, the highest standards of excellence in their profession. We believe that encouraging excellence in education is the shared responsibility of all who reap its benefits. This award recognizes an elementary, middle, and high school teacher from the Troy School District. All three winners are sent on to Oakland County to compete for the county-wide Outstanding Teacher awards. In addition, one Troy School District teacher is selected as the Overall TSD Teacher of the Year, and is awarded that recognition. Please consider taking the time to nominate that special teacher who makes a difference in the lives of countless students. The entire process is online again this year. Submissions will be done electronically using our Outstanding TSD Teacher Nomination form: https://tinyurl.com/TroyTOY2021

Deadline this year is Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 5:00pm. Since everything is done online, you will not be able to submit after that time. If you have any questions, please email Kerry Birmingham at: kbirmingham@troy.k12.mi.us. Thank you so much for your willingness to nominate one of our fabulous teachers!
