Creamy Shrimp Étouffée Soup
Inspired by Louisiana Cajun crawfish 🦞 Étouffée, One of my absolute southern favorites. I created this one This one dairy-free, gluten-free and ridiculously delicious 😋! Thanks for supporting all my stuff, I really appreciate you 🤗!
🦐 Here's The get- down
•2 Pounds of peeled and devained shrimp
•3 tablespoons unsalted butter
•1 medium yellow onion chopped
•1 stalk of celery finely diced
•1 red bell pepper chopped
•1 yellow bell pepper chopped
•3-4 garlic cloves
•4 teaspoons Old Bay or Seafood Magic
•2 tablespoons dry basil
•2 tablespoons dry parsely
•1 bunch of fresh purple Basil ( regular green will work)
•2 tablespoons gluten-free flour
•2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
•¼ cup dry sherry
•3 green onions chopped, about ½ cup
•1 can coconut milk
•2 cans of Golden mushroom soup
•2 cups chicken or vegetable stock
•½ teaspoon Kosher salt
•½ teaspoon Ground black pepper
•2 tablespoons red miso paste
•1 tsp fish sauce
Prep the ingredients
1. Place the shrimp in a bowl and sprinkle in some Old Bay. Set aside.
2. Chop the onions and garlic very fine and set in separate prep bowls.
3. Finely chop the green onions and roughly chop the parsley and basil set aside in separate bowls.
4. Measure the butter, flour, creole seasonings, Worchestershire sauce, coconut milk, sherry and chicken stock. Set aside and have the ready.
Here we go
5. Melt the butter in a dutch oven medium heat.
6. When the butter is bubbling, add the shrimp and garlic. Sauté until pink then remove and set aside. Leave the seasoned butter behind in the pot.
7. Increase heat to medium-high; add the onions, bell peppers, celery, and carrots, and, Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
8. After the onions begin to soften, about 3 minutes, sprinkle in the Gluten Free flour and mix well.
9. Next add the Worcestershire sauce, sherry, chicken stock, and golden mushroom soup, coconut milk, all the dried herbs, and green onions to the pot and stir constantly until thoroughly combined.
10. As soon as you see a simmer starting around the edges, lower the heat to simmer.
11. Sprinkle in your fresh basil, cover and simmer for at least 20 minutes, stirring often your soup will thicken slightly.
