Dear Parents/Guardians,
Years five and six travelled to Llangrannog for a residential visit this week! We arrived in warm sun on Wednesday morning and quickly settled into our rooms. As ever, pupils' behaviour was excellent throughout the trip and they quickly settled into the routines of activities, food, activities and more food! A highlight of the trip was our visit to Llangrannog beach on the Wednesday evening. We spotted Dolphins on the way and spent an evening building sand castles and playing in the sea! Needless to say, after an excellent few days, children arrived back at school exhausted. Thank you to all of the staff who supported our trip and made it a wonderful experience for pupils!
Next week:
We have a busy week ahead of us! After another bank holiday Monday to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, we return on Tuesday. Pupil are going to be busy preparing for our Celebration on Friday. We are going to keep childcare to a minimum on this day and the gates will open at 13:00. We have added horses to our list of attractions, so hopefully we will have a warm day, for all to enjoy. We are going to make the afternoon as affordable as possible and lots will be available for free!
Sun Lotion - during the Summer months, it is likely that pupils will spend more time learning outside. Please ensure that your child applies sun lotion before attending school. Pupils are also able to bring lotion into school to apply themselves.
As ever, if there is anything we can do to support your child and/or your family further, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My email address is: Williamsr1688@hwbcymru.net
Mr. Williams.

E-safety Information - WhatsApp
As a school, we advise in the strongest possible terms that primary school aged pupils should not be using WhatsApp.
What is WhatsApp?
WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging apps, used by over 2 billion people in 180 countries. It allows you to send and receive messages, as well as make voice and video calls. You can connect with people individually or join group chats where lots of people can contribute. All you need to set up a WhatsApp account is a phone number.
What age rating is WhatsApp?
- The app is rated 16+.
- Features of WhatsApp
To connect you with others, WhatsApp checks your phone’s address book for other users and automatically suggests these as your WhatsApp contacts. It also updates your WhatsApp contact list whenever your phone contacts sign up to the app. This is an optional feature, and you can switch it off, but this puts limits on the app’s functionality.
Through the privacy settings in the app, you can help your child control who can see this information.
When you are using WhatsApp, certain information is shared with your contacts:
- Status – this allows you to share updates on your profile in the form of text, photo, video, or GIF that disappears after 24 hours.
- Last seen – this tells your contacts what time you last used the app.
- Online – this tells your contacts if you are currently using the app.
- Read receipts – this allows users to see if the message has been sent, delivered, and read.
What are the risks of Whats App?
- Unwanted contact
- Pressure to respond
- Location sharing
- Inappropriate content
- Cyberbullying
- Oversharing
Tips to help keep your child safe on Whats App:
- Get to know privacy settings and help your child make use of safety features.
- Talk about sharing and let your child know they can and should always talk to a trusted adult if they see anything online that worries them.
- Set family rules about location sharing.
- Consider making bedrooms a mobile free area and having a central place in the home to charge devices that have access to Whats App.
