D3 WEEK FEATURE CONNOR BEAUDET - MEN'S ICE HOCKEY

JR | FORWARD | CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

1. How did you find your Coop?

I landed my Coop through my teammate Angus Johnson at Cranshaw Construction and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my future.

2. What are your primary responsibilities?

I am an Assistant Superintendent, I deal with on-site coordination, day-to-day interaction with foremen, daily logs, and safety inspections.

3. What are some things you have learned during your time on coop?

I have learned how important being in the field and being on site can improve your learning during college. I have learned so much in the classroom but being able to transfer that information and use it in the field gave me the ability to grow and expand my knowledge in the Construction field. I have learned just as much and maybe even more in the field from watching my supervisors and being able to see how they handle themselves in certain situations. Cranshaw Construction is a first class company that truly cares about the Coop program and wants each Coop to succeed.

4. What is your dream career?

My dream career is to be able to work in Boston for 3-5 years, and then transfer my work experience and skills to Buffalo, New York. I hope to help turn Buffalo into a well-developed city, and turn around the water front and be able to put up retail and high end residential buildings.

5. Why did you choose to play DIII hockey?

I chose to play DIII hockey at Wentworth because I wanted to play at the highest level I possibly could while having fun and getting a great education.

6. What advice would you give to an incoming athlete?

At Wentworth, as athletes we are held to a very high standards and we represent our school very well. Yes, we do have a lot of fun but with that fun there comes a lot of work. Traveling day in and out to practice and games, staying in the library until it closes and being able to come from classes or Co-Op and put everything behind you and give everything you have for practice or games.
I wouldn’t change my decision no matter how hard the struggle has been. I know that Wentworth has prepared me for my future no matter what happens. The fact that my major, specifically, has a 99% graduation rate was a no-brainer for me to have a great future.
