Ling chi

Ling Chi was a form of torture and execution used by China from roughly AD 900 until it was banned in 1905.

the Qing dynasty had to stop cruel execution like ling chi, instead chop the criminal's head.

Ling Chi is translated variously as death by a thousands cut or slow slicing. It's usually 8 cuts, the first one is face, the second one is arms and legs , the third one is chest and belly, then the head. But it was way more than 8 cuts. Some of them has thousand cuts. They will cut down little pieces from the criminal. Every cut needed to be bleeding, if the criminal didn't die when the last piece was cut down, or the criminal die before the last cut, then the person who was doing this would be killed as well.

Joseph Marchaned was killed by ling chi execution
