Monday, May 22, 2023

Dear University community,

  • Tomorrow, we remember our fallen Dustdevils with our traditional Celebration of Life at 6 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. We’ll join family and friends to recall 54 honorees in what is always a very moving ceremony and reception thereafter. For more, visit here.
  • TAMIU Music students are hitting all the high notes with recent acclaim for their talents and performances. Students recognized are Dante G. Carreón, Ricardo Hernández, and Carlos Merino-Gutiérrez. Find out more about their honors.
  • Congratulations to TAMIU associate professor of Curriculum and Instruction for the College of Education Dr. Diana Linn who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent 2023 Region 5 Texas National Association of Multicultural Education Conference hosted by Baylor University’s School of Education, department of Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Students, do you have any items stored in the University’s Mechanical Rooms? The Office of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) will soon remove unnecessary storage/clutter except for incidental usage for the safety of our facilities staff. All departments must remove any belongings stored in these areas by June 1, 2023. EHS will then coordinate the removal/discarding of all remaining items.

Registration for Summer, and Fall 2003 is now underway.

  • If you have younger siblings or family members looking for fun summer camp opportunities, TAMIU will be home to a variety of offerings for all ages. Full details, including costs and deadlines are available here.
  • Free COVID-19 Testing continues to be available on campus. COVID-19 is still a threat here, across our State, nation, and world. Recommended face coverings/masks, and rigorous hand-washing help reduce your exposure risk. Learn about free on-campus testing.

Have a great week, Dustdevils!

- Pablo Arenaz, Ph.D., President
