Family Game Night Tonight!
It's finally here! Tonight is the PTO Family Game Night in the Adams Gym, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. This event is for Adams students and their families, and the only price of admission is that students must bring an adult with them! Join us for board games, cards, chess, and more. See you there.
Valentine's Day Fun
Last week Adams students and staff enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day together, with snacks, crafts, and more. There were smiles for miles throughout the building as students had fun together. Thank you to teachers and staff for planning, and to the many parent volunteers that helped make the day a success.
Korean Lunar New Year in the 5th Grade
Lipovsky World, Mrs. Lipovsky's 5th grade class, learned about Korean traditions for Lunar New Year. We used chopsticks and enjoyed dumplings and cake. Ellie and Gigi tried on traditional Korean dresses called Hanboks, and we even learned some common phrases and a children’s song in Korean. Students made cross-cultural connections and relished learning about Korean cultural traditions.
Social-Emotional Learning: Awareness

We continue to work on building our social awareness here at Adams. Students are learning and practicing how to identify what they have in common with others, as well as what makes them unique. We know that these characteristics can be either visible or intrinsic. Additionally, we are exploring the importance of connectedness. We've learned that when we are connected with others we are much less likely to pass judgment, and we are less likely to feel judged. When we work together and practice kindness towards others, we experience connection, acceptance, kindness, and are able to achieve more. Our unique characteristics are something to embrace!
Battle of the Books Teams Have Fun Competing!
You know that we love reading here at Adams Elementary! So do our friends at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, and once again this year, they are sponsoring the Battle of the Books. This friendly, annual competition pits groups of fourth and fifth grade students against each other as they read and discuss books. This year we have three teams entered in the battle, and they are pictured below. Each team has been doing well and progressing through the rounds of the competition--be sure to check back in this space for more information in the future. Thank you to the parent volunteers leading the teams this year, including Umbareen Jamil, Juliet Samocki, and Amy Buzzell. Good luck, Atoms!
