Step 1: First the body is washed with wine and spices, all of the parts that might decay were removed. The brain is mushed up and pulled out by a hook which is stuck up through the nose and the other organs were also removed and put into canopic jars.

Step 2: The body was stuffed with bundles of strong drying salt called natron. It was then covered completely by natron and placed on a slanted embalming couch so that any fluids that dripped out as the body was drying could be collected and buried along with it.

Step 3: While the body was drying, the internal organs were also dried and preserved with natron. They were wrapped in strips of linen and placed in compartments.
Step 4: After 40 days the body, now completely dry, was removed from the natron and washed inside and out with fragrant spices and oil.
Step 5: The mummy's head and body were packed with linen and soaked in scented oil so that they would regain the shape they had in life. Once this was done the mummy was covered in gold trinkets and precious gems.
Step 6: The entire body was then covered in shrouds and bound with strips of linen until the mummy had returned to its original size. Then Small magical trinkets were placed between the layers of linen to protect the mummy in the afterlife.
Step 7: After the wrapping was finished, the head was covered with a portrait mask just to make sure that the spirit would recognize it. The masked mummy was then placed into a coffin and then a sarcophagus.
