Qin Shi Huangdi built the Great Wall of China to defend off the invasions of northern invaders. The Great Wall of China was Constructed in the Spring and Autumn Period (770 - 476 BC), and lasted until the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).He had also made the Ling Canal to elevate water levels and to have as transportation to Lingnan. The Ling Canal was built in the year 214 BC. Qin Shi Huangdi ordered all books to be burned books to avoid scholars comparison of his reign with the past. The books the would not be burned are books on astrology, agriculture, medicine, divination, and the history of Qin state.If Anybody owned the Book of Songs or the Classic of History would be severally punished. The following year, there were 460 buried Scholars from owning forbidden books.

As Qin Shi Huangdi started to get older he started to be obsessed with his death and eventually sent people to find elixirs of immortality. He than started making life size soldiers, animals, workers, and musicians that are made of clay in under ground pits along with a main pit with his tomb. (which has not been explored yet) All together there are about 8,000 life size clay soldiers still in the under ground pits. These clay soldiers are known as the Terracotta Warriors.

Qin Shi Huangdi was an important part of China in many ways. He made a defensive barrier later to be known as the Great Wall of China, he ordered book burnings, he made the Ling Canal, and made a writing script for all of China to use. He also made a universal system of weights and measurements, and expanded the southern territories of the empire. Without Qin Shi Huangdi there would be no Great Wall of China, no universal weights of measurement, and no writing script for all of China. Qin Shi Huangdi was a important part for all of us and ancient China.
