THE CRASH

Offensive line coach Garett Tujague likes to refer to his position players as rhinos. A group of rhinos is known as a crash.

“We want to be relied on and counted on to be a solid force for the offense and allow that confidence to carry over to our quarterback and our receivers and our running backs. They have to know we are willing to take care of business.” – Offensive line coach Garett Tujague

“Low, mean, hard and nasty.”

“He (Tujague) has a lot of passion for the game. He’s always there for us. He wants to show us how to do everything the way he wants it done. There is no excuse for you not doing it correctly.” – Ryan Nelson

“At practice I push the guys hard. My intent is to help them become the best football versions of themselves. Coach Mendenhall and our program is all about developing young men. I am going to ask them to physically do everything they can.

"At my home, I want them to come over and see me as a husband and as a dad and to be able to see that environment as well. That lets them know I am going to push them hard, but I am going to love them harder.” – Garett Tujague

"Their effort and desire to want to be great is really high. Their camaraderie with each other. How they work together. How they encourage each other. Those are all great things that they are doing right now." - Garett Tujague

THE OBSERVATION

RELATIONSHIPS

“It is one of my favorite things to have former players come back. I think it is special when you consider people graduate and they go off and they get into their lives. It clearly means that UVA matters to them. The experience matters. They cherish this and the relationships they had here. I think they are exemplary, the people that take time out of their day to come back to show appreciation. By principle, that is amazing. Those relationships are really rewarding to me and our players. It sets an example for them and I hope they would perpetuate that as they graduate and come back to build on where we are going.” – Bronco Mendenhall
