Divide and conquer. That seems to be the Russian strategy given their first move. Putin spoke to the Russian people Monday giving a history lesson on why Ukraine wasn’t a legitimate country, but a creation of communist Russia. It’s worth noting that Ukraine has been seen as a sovereign nation since declaring independence in 1991 after the dissolve of the Soviet Union.
Not surprising, all intelligence agencies are reporting misinformation being shared through direct Russian media outlets, not just through social media (…..Facebook can finally breathe a sigh of relief) portraying Ukraine as the aggressor and Russia having no choice but to defend itself. He then recognized the independence of two breakaway states in Eastern Ukraine.
Likely using this to justify the encroachment into Ukraine by sending Russian forces into Eastern Ukraine under the guise of peace keeping and “protecting the ethnic Russian population”. Where will this go and what’s at risk…….likely hundreds of thousands of lives and a significant amount of refugees…estimated to be around 5M people impacted. This no longer seems like a drill as many would hope. But instead, can easily be interpreted as a blatant and open declaration of war.
This naturally had to be the second story today. Welcome to the big Twosday unlike one we’ve ever seen. That’s right people: ***2/22/22*** Let that sink in for a little bit. There are so many mind-blowing details here that one must acknowledge (not really). The day of 2’s actually falls on a Tuesday! (insert over the top Kramer reaction here). Can all of this just be a coincidence or is there potentially a bigger conspiracy at play here? It’s obvious what that would be right?? Ok, maybe not. But the real question is….. what will you be doing at 2:22 on 2/22/22? 🤯 Not in the mood to celebrate this year? No problem….you can always wait for 3/3/33. Downside is that it’s a wee bit away and….Threesday doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
Well, our topic on DAO’s last week was timely. As news recently broke of “BuyTheBroncos” DAO. As the name suggests, a group of crypto enthusiasts (including a mix of attorneys, accountants, software developers and pro athletes) are formally uniting to outbid for the Denver Broncos which have announced they will be up for sale in 2022. Of course, our crypto brethren will likely be going head-to-head against HOFers John Elway and Peyton Manning, both of which are expected to be vying for the team via different bidding groups. “BuyTheBroncos” DAO has stated that though they hope to raise enough funds to purchase the team outright, the backup plan would include raising a large enough amount and joining one of the more conventional groups bidding, in hopes of success. Ironically, this is basically the same strategy that Archie, Eli and Cooper Manning have taken trying to ride Peyton’s coattails all these years.
Billionaire activist investor and corporate raider, Carl Icahn, is throwing his shareholder weight around….this time with McDonald’s. He’s aggressively seeking two board seats which MCD is apparently considering. Some interesting things that stick out to me here:
- Companies are usually pushed in a corner with activist investors given the significant amount of shares they control in the company. In this case though, Icahn has a lousy 200 shares of MCD……or a whopping $50k worth. So what gives, why is he aggressively pushing for 2 board seats of his choosing?
- If you thought animal cruelty....with all due respect, that would be such a weird guess…..buuuut you’d be right. MCD pledged back in 2012 to ensure all their US pork suppliers move to ‘crate free’ pork within a specific timeframe. And though they’ve made some progress, apparently not enough. More specifically Icahn says it’s “obscene” how animals are treated by MCD for their products.
- Which then obviously begs the thought……THERE IS ACTUALLY REAL MEAT IN MCDONALD’S PRODUCTS?!?!? I’m not sure I buy that. Come on bruh, I’ve seen Super-Size Me. Where is all this pork used anyways….the McRib??
- Regardless… by the sounds of it, this certainly doesn’t sound like a happy meal! (See what I did there?) [Insert the most amazing firework memes right about now]
Also, if nothing above has blown your mind, maybe this will. Today I learned that every date through the rest of this month reads the same backwards and forward. 2/20/22, 2/21/22, 2/22/22, 2/23/22, 2/24/22, 2/25/22, 2/26/22, 2/27/22, 2/28/22. #palindrome 🤯 (….two in one day!)
