Trinity Comes From Behind to Top Colby Football, Remains Undefeated
On Saturday, Colby played host to an undefeated Trinity College team. The Bantams lead the league in scoring offense as well as scoring defense, and the Mules were gearing for one of the largest upsets in team history.
Jumping out to a first-half lead of 12-0, the Mules displayed efficiency on offense as well as drive-stopping plays on defense. First-year Keon Smart scored on rushes of 12 and 2-yds, and Colby reached 100 yards on the ground for the first time this year. Defensively, Colby forced Trinity to punt three times, turned the ball over on downs once, and also recovered a fumble late in the first quarter. The Bantams were held without a first half score for the first time in 2021.
Behind NESCAC Player of the Week Spencer Fetter (27-33 320yds, 4tds), Trinity stormed back in the second half with five scores. The Bantams totaled almost 500 yards of offense and remains in a three-way tie atop the NESCAC standings.
Colby is now 2-4 on the season, ranking 5th in the NESCAC.
*The three remaining teams on the Mules' schedule all have matching 1-5 records (Bates, Tufts, Bowdoin).

Facing Two of the Nation's Best, Colby Falls to Tufts and Amherst
The Mules took to the road twice this week, first facing #3 Tufts University, followed by #7 Amherst College. Colby fell to the Jumbos and Mammoths 6-0 and 4-0 respectively.
With a season-long focus of building experience for a young squad (2/3 of Colby's roster played in their first collegiate game this season), playing in the NESCAC with top-level competition is money in the bank for the Mules. Six of the nation's top 11 teams come from the conference.
Colby is now 5-8, ranked 10th in the NESCAC.
