As Company Commanders, 1SGs, and Leaders , your mission will be achieve an overall unit readiness status that will enable your units to train and deploy anywhere in the world, in order to conduct your assigned missions. To attain this "ready status" The Company Command team and his/her subordinate units need to be INVOLVED in every aspect of unit readiness: Personnel, Training, Maintenance and Supply. This can only be achieved by providing COMMAND EMPHASIS.

Commanders need to ensure his/her subordinate leaders (1SG, XO, Platoon Leaders Platoon Sergeants) receive their initial counseling within 30 days of assuming command.
This will be the 1st Step to ensure that your guidance and priorities and Those of your higher commander's are established and all levels of leadership understand their roles and are held accountable.
Ensure the Commander's Intent is Clear and you have a candid face to face session with the counseled subordinate leader.
Provide clear concise and effective guidance based on your unit's mission, individual and collective readiness requirements, priorities and commander's intent.
Change of Command Inventories
Upon being appointed as Commander, you will have 30 days to complete a 100% inventory.
Incoming Commanders may be allowed two different extensions of 15 days upon submitting an written request. Ensure to conduct monthly Cyclic and Sensitive Item Inventories(SII).
Bottom line: you will be responsible for the unit's property.
Once you Sign your Assumptiom of Command Memorandum, meke sure you sub hand receipt the property, and update DA Forms 1687 and 18-Rs.
It is necesary that all unit leadership get aces to al required systems in order to track all Soldiers by name tag.

Command Climate Survey
All units need to conduct a command climate survey within 120 days upon receiving a newly appointed Commander. Then once every year IAW Army Directive 2013-29.

Sexual Harassment/Assault Prevention program
Within 120 days for Reserve component: Reserve component commanders must complete the assessment within 120 days after assuming command. Incorporate assessment of sexual harassment and sexual assault during the command climate assessments. Include questions pertaining to sexual harassment and sexual assault. Commanders must appoint unit SARC and Victim Advocates who will assist in assessing the climate for sexual harassment and sexual assault.

During the first 30 Days, it is recommended that new commanders schedule an interview the 1st MSC DDR program representative.
DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE A POSITIVE CASE TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO!!!
Ensure you meet USARC urinalysis standard every month and appoint your unit's Trained UPLs
Review all open positive cases and avoid delinquency in the DDR Program. Ensure you follow the separation process to the letter.
