The Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators (FAME) and the Department of Medical Education recently hosted its ninth annual Medical Education Day, a full-day dedicated to examining and advancing the future of medical education, and celebrating outstanding teaching and scholarship. The day included a series of workshops, innovative didactic lectures, discussions, a keynote by Martin Pusic, MD, PhD, FRCP(C), director in the Division of Learning Analytics for the Institute for Innovation in Medical Education and associate professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at New York University School of Medicine, and an awards ceremony celebrating excellent educators at Feinberg.
Quentin Youmans, MD, Linda Suleiman, MD, Adesuwa Akhetuamhen, MD, and medical students, Mateus Lima and Ramael Ohiomoba, led a workshop exploring the unique challenges underrepresented minority trainees face during the transition from medical school to residency and discussed how senior peer mentorship can effectively mitigate these challenges.
Patricia Garcia, MD, MPH, David Salzman, MD, MEd, and Kristy Wolniak, MD, PhD, demonstrated how the new technologically-enabled and acoustically optimized Active Learning Classroom (ALC) can be used in active learning pedagogy.
