Week 5 - Term 1a It’s Been a jumping, dancing and singing kind of week.

We use our outdoor classroom all the time. Not only does it mean we get fresh air, we also check the weather and seasons. We also get the chance to play and explore in different ways. Some of the children prefer to make huge movements, jumping g and stomping; whilst others prefer to be more contemplative and thoughtful. This week we swept, we danced, we jumped, we climbed, we designed our own games, we explored sang and enjoyed the many different types of weather.
Lots of different ways to mark make and write. We use large movements to support muscle development. This week we wrote lists and cards for a friendship party.
Embedding our understanding of mathematical language. The children made pile and towers with more and less reinforcing the logic of the language throughout. We also used the 5 frames to encourage the children to understand how to count accurately, touch counting all the objects individually.
Friendship party, as we have had 4 new children in our class this week. We checked they were ok, and decided on different ways to be a good friend as well as ideas that were not so great. Throughout the week the children have referred back to the check list reminding themselves of appropriate behaviour. It has been really lovely to see them becoming more independent as well as forming positive relationships with their friends.
Exploring with colour mixing as well as extending our understanding of ourselves and our families.
The reading area is becoming much more popular. As the class are becoming more familiar with texts and stories they are reading to one another as well as asking adults for support. This is a great skill and attitude to have.
