Early Life
Education
She attended South wick Tolland regional High School. In 1991 she graduated from school with being the class salutatorian. She had Bachelor of Art in political science with a B + average. In a 1995 interview she said athletes who take to the classroom naturally or are encourage to focused on grades should be able to do good in the classroom.
Adult Life
Married to Steve Rushin with 3 children Siobhan Rose Rushin, Maeve Elizabeth Rushin,Thomas Joseph Rushin. Rebecca was in the WNBA and played for 3 different teams known as New York Liberty, Houston Comets, and Connecticut sun. She was traded to the Comets in 2002 and the season after that she was then traded to the Connecticut Sun (2003) where she retired.
Impact/Accomplishments
She acknowledges her status as a role model for women and young girls who wanted to be an athlete just like her. She began setting records by becoming the all-time leading scorer in all of Massachusetts state (male or female) while also playing track and field,field hockey,and softball. She also held a state high school record for 18 years of 2,740 points until it was broken in 2009. While she was there, she had an outstanding year in 1995 where she lead the team into a 35-0 record. She was named most outstanding player at the NCAA final four competition, and won the wade trophy because of her leadership on and off the court. She averaged 16.9 points, 10.1 rebounds (per game), and blocked 396 shots over her college career.
