Headteacher Comment

This week we congregated as a staff body to celebrate the DRET Inspiration Awards 2022. We thoroughly enjoyed being together to support our three finalists, of whom we are all so proud: Mr Thorne, Mrs Wensley and Amy Critchley. With awards in mind, don't forget to pop Thursday 14th July into your diary for the Greenfields Academy Awards Evening - every child from Nursery to Year 5 will receive an achievement certificate and the Academy Awards will also be presented.

We want to take the opportunity to wish the very best of luck to Greenfields' hockey, athletics and swimming teams. They will be heading off to Grantham Athletics Stadium for the annual DRET Summer Cup next Thursday. This is the highlight in our sports calendar and is always attended by well known international sports super stars and Olympians.

Have a lovely weekend

Who Broke the Beanstalk?

Year Three discovered some very strange things on the playground this week! They investigated the evidence and discovered coloured feathers, a golden egg, huge footprints, golden coins, and saw a broken beanstalk! They put all the clues together and worked out the new text they will be learning is Jack and the Beanstalk!

Jigsaw in Reception

In Reception's PSHE session this week, the group talked about being healthy. The children looked at a range of objects and discussed what the children did to stay healthy. The classes looked at haircare, sponges, toothbrushes, food types and exercises. The children showed a great understanding of basic hygiene and personal needs with the importance of healthy foods.

Volume and Measuring

In Maths, Terrific Tigers have been learning about volume and capacity. The group investigated using measuring jugs and liquid. The children were able to spot when a container had more or less than another. The class compared volumes when the containers were different sizes and learned vocabulary such as 'full' and 'empty'. Good job, Tigers!

Home School Agreement

As we become more used to our online way of working, we thought it was important to add to our home/school agreement (that you signed when your child started at Greenfields) to include online learning. Please follow the link below to complete this short addition relating to online learning with Greenfields Primary School and Nursery.

Class Code and Google Link

These have been updated for the classes in 2021-22, so click on the link for the class you will be in in September.

Teachers always look forward to posting their ‘Flipping Greenfields’ videos every Friday next term in time for the weekend. Each one is all about next week’s learning, so will get your child prepared for a flying start on Monday. Research shows that children who feel prepared for the coming week are less anxious about school, happier to get up and go on a Monday morning and achieve better than those who are not.
