Singapore-based music producer David Siow aka DSML emerged into the scene in May 2020, as a way of expressing his personal trauma in the form of music production. DSML decided to step out as a music producer whilst still fulfilling his duties in award-winning indie-pop band M1LDL1FE, infusing his collaborations with his own brand of dark emotions and production choices.
Deemed an “accomplished soundscaper” by Mixmag Asia, he has already racked up more than 500,000 plays, including collaborations with Malaysian indie-pop band Son of A Policeman, Indonesian indie-anthem rock band lightcraft, as well as Singaporeans GIN.GIRL, Falling Feathers, Jean Seizure, Sarah X. Miracle and Goose, successfully completing a personal challenge of releasing at least one song per month, for a duration of a full year.
As part of Majulah Weekender, DSML was featured in Majulah Live @ Marina Bay Sands Theatre to an online audience in Nov 2020.
Shortly after, he paired up with Jean Seizure again for The Room Session’s first live-streamed event (private link).
In January 2021, DSML was the producer featured on Aliwal Tracks, a compilation of videos reinterpreting Kampong Glam in various mediums, with DSML’s track City Fringe consisting only of sounds recorded in the area.
DSML was then chosen as a mentor in SCAPE’s .WAV program, where he was teamed up with city-pop newcomers Venus Landing to collaborate on a track. The episode was live-streamed on 3 Feb 2021 and the track 99 is now on all digital platforms.
DSML is currently taking a break to move his studio with his recent release "Is That Just Me" dropping in Feb 2024 as a collab with Australian pop artist sleepy benjamin .
