Term 2 Week 2 Newsletter

It has been a delight to welcome everyone back for Term 2 over the last week and we have certainly had a busy start to the term with our Cross Country Carnival tomorrow! I can’t help but reflect on how different things are this term with the easing of many COVID restrictions. We are delighted to have our full range of programs operating again and to be able to welcome parents into the school.

3pm Pickup Tips

It has been so fantastic to have the school return to a single timetable this week but I have noticed that the main entrance at the front of the school has been busy for the 3pm pickup. You can avoid the 3pm Anzac Ave jam by using our Miller St exit. Currently only a small number of children and parents are using this exit each day. Every day a member of the executive team opens the gate at 3pm and locks the gate by 3.10pm. If you have a child in Years 3-6, I would strongly encourage you to organise Miller St as your pick up spot for your child. The pedestrian gate is also open and parents can use this exit to meet their child if they are in Years 3-6. I look forward to our community settling into this routine again and utilising all our exit points in the afternoon.

ANZAC Day Commemoration

We came together on the last day of Term 1 for a special Anzac assembly to commemorate the men and women who have served our nation. Our leaders shared important messages about the significance of this day and student representatives from each class presented wreaths as tributes. It was wonderful to share this occasion with many of our parents via zoom. We saw big crowds on Monday at the North Sydney RSL Dawn Service and I was very proud to see all the Anzac Park students in their uniforms in the crowd and to lay a wreath on behalf of the school.

2023 Enrolments have opened!

Enrolments have opened for students wishing to enrol at Anzac Park Public School from Kindergarten to Year 6 in 2023. Information about enrolment can be accessed on our school website or by contacting the school. Please find below our 2023 enrolment flyer which details all events for students enrolling for next year. Please let friends and neighbours know about this flyer and that enrolment forms are available at the school office or on the school website. If you have a child starting school next year, please go to our school website and follow the link to complete an online enrolment form.

Communication the Key to Success

Regular and detailed communication is the key to any successful organisation and especially a school. As a school we are continually looking at how we can enhance our communication processes to keep you as informed as possible. I encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions, concerns or something you would like to discuss at any time. We are always happy to talk to you about any issue be it big or small. Often small issues can be solved through a discussion between parents and staff before it becomes something big for your child. As a school we make a commitment to listen, respond and work with you to resolve any concerns. Please contact your child's Key Teacher in the first instance if you have any concerns.

Save The Date Semester 1 Mountain Top at Anzac Park Thursday 30 June

Mountain Top at Anzac Park is an exciting initiative and will take place at Anzac Park on Thursday 30 June from 5.30pm-7.30pm. Mountain Top is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the work of every student at Anzac Park and will be the culmination of student achievement for Semester 1. The evening will involve all students sharing at least one aspect of their learning from Semester 1 and students will be acknowledged on the evening for their commitment to our six global competencies. This will be a wonderful community celebration and I would like to encourage you all to save the date now so that you will be able to attend this fabulous Anzac Park event.

Spotlight on Sunshine

In Science, Sunshine have begun learning about how physical conditions affect the survival of living things. This has involved investigating structural and behavioural adaptations that support the survival of plants and animals in a range of biomes. We have started using Spike Prime robotics to mimic living things and their environments. We are excited to continue to use robotics to further our understanding of how animals adapt to their environments and to share this with you at Mountain Top in Week 10!
