Chick-fil-a Reopening. By: Corrinne Malinowski

Chick-fil-a, originally founded in 1946 in Hapeville Georgia, has grown nationally. Now, in 2022, Chick-fil-a can be found in 3 different countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and also Canada.

In an interview with The Atlantic Business Chronicle, CEO Dan Cathy spoke of his plans to keep expanding internationally, Chick-fil-a is "really really good at taking care of that very, very demanding customer. And so we take that kind of industry, and we export to Asia, Europe, South America".

Chick-fil-a's influence has continued to spread also reaching almost all 50 states (not including, Vermont, Hawaii, and Alaska). Luckily for most Worthington Kilbourne students, Chick-fil-a can be relatively close by on Sawmill Road in Dublin.

A regular Wednesday for Chick-fil-a on Sawmill.

At the Sawmill location, Chick-fil-a was being renovated for nearly 5 months starting in 2021 and ending at the beginning of 2022.

Chick-fil-a employee of 2 years, Freshman at Worthington Kilbourne Bennet Koehn says "The changes that have been made are, there is a smaller dining room, we expanded the kitchen, we also made the drive through bigger" Koehn goes on to say, "We also made the workspace in the drive-through where we bag all the food larger in order to produce more food at a faster rate". (Seen at left is one of the changes made to allow for faster and more efficient production).

Koehn (Pictured below) also included, "We opened up a second store at Tuttle crossing, and all of the Sawmill staff were sent over to the Tuttle location during the duration of the remodel."

Quinn McComb, a Freshman at Worthington Kilbourne Highschool, and also a nearly 2-year employee of Chick-fil-a stated that for starters "Chick-fil-a has taught me how to work with people, work under pressure, and serve with a smile".

McComb echoed Koehn, "They transferred everyone to Tuttle," but McComb added, "It was pretty far for some people, so they either stopped working or didn't work until Sawmill was opened again."

"The changes really helped"

Additionally, McComb says "Our office (Pictured below) is still the playroom so hopefully they'll open that up soon but everything else is working very nicely."

Although most people seemed to favor the Sawmill renovation others did not. Lisa Kaiser, Mother of 3, says that initially she was "hoping it would improve the order time. But as the renovation went on longer and longer, I became annoyed because if I wanted any Chick-fil-a, I would have to go to the Tuttle location. It was either that or we wouldn't have any. This amped my annoyance because it is one of those places that everybody ate." When Kaiser discovered that Chick-fil-a on Sawmill was finally open again she stated that"I got a 30-piece for the family and everybody was happy".
