Rubidium contained in a glass case

Rubidium has to be stored in some type of case. When rubidium makes contact with air it flames. When it touches water it explodes like all other Alkali metals.

  • Rubidium's melting point is 39.1 C or 312.46 K
  • Rubidium's boiling point is 688 C or 961 K
  • It's density is 1.53 grams per cubic centimeter.

Pure rubidium ore.

  • Rubidium was discovered by Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff in 1861
  • By heating mineral water
  • Rubidium comes from rubidus
  • can be used to help heart disease.
  • can be used to make blood thinner.
  • Not many uses
