Valleys

Valleys are low areas of land between hills or mountains, typically with a river or stream flowing through it.

As you move from the bottom of the valley up to the top of the mountain, there are less and less trees.

It gets colder as you go higher and there isn't much soil for things to grow.

Down in the valley there is usually a river and plenty of good soil, so plants and animals can live there.

What kinds of things live in a valley?

Forest animals - rabbits, foxes, deer, wolves, bears
