The Week In Review

Sermon: June 26, 2022

Brother Jarodd Webb

Subject: Stand Still In His Will

Scripture: Mark 10: 46-49

46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. 49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. Read full chapter

A Milestone Achievement

Supreme Court Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson

"One can only come this far by faith. I must begin these very brief remarks by thanking God for delivering me to this point in my professional journey,' said Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson."

Ketanji Brown Jackson has been sworn as the 116th Supreme Court justice and the first Black woman to serve on the high court.

"For too long, our government, our courts haven't looked like America," Biden said when he nominated her. "And I believe it's time that we have a court that reflects the full talents and greatness of our nation with a nominee of extraordinary qualifications and that we inspire all young people to believe that they can one day serve their country at the highest level."

At the noon ceremony at the Supreme Court, Jackson, took two oaths: a constitutional oath, administered by Chief Justice John Roberts, and a judicial oath, administered by Breyer. A formal investiture for Jackson will follow in fall.

"It has taken 232 years and 115 prior appointments for a Black woman to be selected to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States, but we've made it! We've made it — all of us," Jackson said in remarks at a White House event the day after the Senate vote."

What's Next?

Let's get ready to VOTE in November! We can see the power of the ballot box. This will be one of the most important mid-term elections in recent memory.

Growing With F.A.N.

As we all know, one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental health is to have a garden. You do not have to live in the "country" to grow vegetables.

Our F.A.N. member, Nadine Morrison, is making it grow in her "bucket and pot garden." Here are some tips from Nadine,

"Simply choose your pot size - the bigger the better! You can use seeds or plants, I did both, along with Miracle Grow potting soil. Place 2 seeds or 2 plants in soil. (Read directions on package) Leave space between plants, water and (wow), watch your plants begin to grow. Water as needed. Forever humble, Nadine said, I am a beginner, didn't know what I was doing. I am no farmer, but this worked for me! Thanks to Tina Johnson for encouraging me to share with F.A.N."

Nadine's project achieved 2 F.A.N. Goals: 1. Healthy Food & 2. Physical Movement

Nadine grew zucchini, squash, cherry tomatoes in her back yard! #Making It Grow With Nadine
