Sean Collier Invite

On Saturday April 23rd, the Mammoths travelled to Cambridge, Massachusetts to compete at the Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT. On a sunny day, the Mammoths competed hard in their last regular season meet!

In the women's javelin, Carolina Andrade placed fourth with a throw of 31.20 meters (102' 4"), Bethany Martin threw a mark of20.85m (68' 5") and Payton Sorensen set a personal best, throwing 20.61 meters (67' 7") on her third attempt! In the men's javelin, Kevin Ryu placed eighth with a throw of 45.04 meters (147' 9") and Jack Renda threw 39.06 meters (128' 2"). 

In the men's hammer throw, Jack Renda set a personal best, throwing 37.27 meters (122' 3")! Bethany Martin threw well, placing ninth with a throw of 41.53 meters (136' 3")!

The first track event of the day was the 1500 meters, and Maggie Drew and Gigi Chrappa ran in the same heat, running times of 5:17 and 5:19, respectively. Next in the men's 1500, Bobby Innes-Gold positioned himself well throughout the race and used a strong kick in the last 100 meters to power to a personal best time of 4:06! In the same heat, Aydin Williams also ran well and ran a personal best, also with a time of 4:06! Running his first race of the season, Fritz Lalley competed well.

In the women's 100 hurdles, Lindsay Ward ran a personal best, running a time of 15.23 seconds, placing third! Bridget Cassata placed sixth and ran a collegiate-best time of 16.15 seconds! Alton Machen set a personal best and placed fifth, running a time of 15.57 seconds!

Zane Lee-Briggs was the only Mammoth who competed in the 400, running a time of 56.46 seconds.

Price Warfield running the 100

Marshall Richardson ran a season best time in the 100, running a time of 11.69 seconds! Price Warfield ran his first 100 ever and ran a time of 11.90 seconds, a strong debut!

In the women's 800, Sierra Donovan passed three runners in the final 100 meters to place sixth in a time of 2:26 and Nicole Barbaro ran well too, running a time of 2:29. Susannah Auderset ran a season-best time, running a time of 2:35!

In the second heat of the men's 800, four Mammoths competed in the heat and Kolya Markov-Riss ran a season best time, running a time of 1:56! Jack O'Hara ran a strong race as well, running a time of 1:56 too! In the same heat, Braedon Fiume and Nick Edwards-Levin both ran well, running times of 1:57 and 1:58, respectively. Charlie Clary placed second in the next heat and ran a time of 1:58, a collegiate best time!

Camden Heafitz cleared a season best in the high jump, clearing 1.96 meters (6' 5"), placing second! Alex Robin cleared 1.76 meters (5' 9.25") to place seventh.

In the discus, David Brown threw 40.92 meters (134' 3") and Hugh Lemmon-Kishi threw 36.18 meters (118' 8"). Bethany Martin threw 30.46 meters (99' 11") and Debra Thayer threw 24.83 meters (81' 5"). In the shot put, Hugh Lemmon-Kishi threw well, throwing 12.19 meters (40' 0"), David Brown threw 12.01 meters (39' 5") and Bethany Martin threw 8.99 meters (29' 6").

Payton Sorensen cleared 3.10 meters (10' 2") in the women's pole vault, tying her personal best in the event!

Trintje Nydam enjoyed a fantastic race in the women's 400 hurdles, running a time of 65.90 seconds, a personal best! In the same heat, Artis Phillips also competed well, placing fifth in a time of 68.85 seconds!

The Mammoths swept the 400 hurdles, with Ellis Phillips-Gallucci winning in a time of 55.76 seconds! Alton Machen placed second in a time of 58.65 seconds and Max Spelke placed third in a time of 59.53, a personal best for Max!

We enjoyed a beautiful at MIT and are so grateful for everyone's support who cheered on the Mammoths at the meet and from afar!

NEXT UP for the Mammoths is the NESCAC Track & Field Championships on Saturday, April 30th hosted by Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. All of the action will start at 9 AM.
